About the Project

This resource guide is an initiative developed by Makers Making Change, a program of Neil Squire.

About Neil Squire

“We use Technology, Knowledge, and Passion to Empower Canadians with Disabilities.” Neil Squire, the Canadian leader in assistive technology, has been revolutionizing the lives of Canadians with disabilities since 1984. Our work is focused on four distinct areas: Innovation, Digital Literacy, Employment, and Assistive Technology. Our work enables people with disabilities to achieve their goals, reach their full potential and continue living life to the fullest.

About Makers Making Change

Makers Making Change is a program within the Neil Squire Society. Within this program, we have an assistive devices library where people can request devices. They then get matched with a volunteer maker who will work with the requester to build the device and customize anything they can on it if that is within the volunteer's skills (color, size, shape, etc). The requester will then pay the volunteer for only the cost of materials and shipping if applicable.

Our team at MMC also hosts plenty of events where we build various devices and have them in stock that we can give away for free if the materials were donated. So depending on the request, we can give devices away at no cost.
